Breast Reduction Beverly Hills

Every year, more and more women are taking advantage of the breast reduction procedure, especially in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. With an increasing incidence of 200% in the last ten years, this specialized procedure, also called reduction mammoplasty, is one of the ten most commonly performed surgeries today. Almost 98% of breast reduction patients recommend the procedure to others as effective in alleviating their unwanted symptoms and improving their lifestyle significantly.

Large breasts can cause a number of unwanted problems including back pain, neck pain, discomfort when exercising, and feeling self-conscious about your appearance. In many cases, surgery is the only way to reduce the breast size enough to have a positive impact on your life. Dr. Golshani is exceptionally skilled and experienced in performing surgery to reduce breast size.

The physical, psychological and emotional benefits associated with the surgery are significant. Not only does this surgical procedure make you LOOK better with smaller, firmer and lighter breasts but it can also make you FEEL better by relieving many symptoms including poor posture, headaches, severe skin rashes underneath the breasts, and deep and painful grooving of the shoulders as a result of bra straps.

In addition, breast reduction surgery can help to alleviate the social anxiety, body weight issues and self-consciousness commonly associated with having large breasts. By making heavy breasts considerably lighter, this procedure can provide patients with necessary, immediate relief while giving them the confidence and ability to once again wear clothing that actually fits and participate in a healthful and enjoyable active life. Frequently considered a medical necessity covered by medical insurance, a reduction mammoplasty is one of the most effective surgeries available in improving the quality of life.

The decision to undergo a breast reduction (mammoplasty) in Beverly Hills, Ca is often a life-changing event that many women think about for years. Without understanding all the details associated with the procedure, this decision can be quite difficult. That’s why we’re here.

Breast Reduction – How it Works

A breast reduction is a plastic surgery that involves the removal of excess fat, skin, and tissue of the breasts. Some people choose a small reduction in size, and others opt for a significant change. While there is a recovery period, as with any surgery, most patients find that they quickly feel the benefits of having lighter, smaller breasts. A breast reduction can be combined with a procedure to lift your breasts if you would like.

Breast Reduction Surgery Candidates

The best way know if breast reduction is a good solution for you is to schedule a private consultation with Dr. Golshani. In general, candidates for breast reduction have pain in their back, shoulders, or neck, suffer from skin irritation, are self-conscious about their appearance, and feel their breasts are disproportionate.

Breast Reduction Insurance Coverage

Breast reduction used to be considered a “cosmetic” procedure and therefore patients were not eligible for insurance coverage. However, today we have medical evidence that demonstrates how much of a medical issue large breasts can be. We are thrilled that insurance companies are changing their policies on covering breast reductions. Many insurance companies now recognize the painful and limiting symptoms of having breasts that are too large.

Real Case Studies of My Own Patients

Words can only do so much when it comes to life-changing results. However, I’d like to show you a couple of cases of my own patients who cannot be happier with their results.

Case 1

This patient came to my office for a free consultation because she was tired of the way she felt about her abnormally large breasts that were not proportionate with her body. She mentioned receiving unwanted looks from people, as well as feeling insecure about certain clothing options including bikinis. She wanted to change this. She underwent breast reduction surgery in my office and it changed her life. She is much more confident about everything she does. She still thanks me today.

Case 2

This patient came into my office complaining of common culprits of large breasts: back pain, shoulder pain, and neck pain. She knew what was causing it but was unsure of following through with her gut feeling. After reading everything online she felt secure about her decision and scheduled a consult. I performed the procedure for her and she has been pain-free for a couple of years now. Truly life-changing.

Breast Reduction – Restore Your Confidence

Overview of Breast Reduction

Common Types Of Questions Asked About Breast Reduction

The following are some of the most common Breast Reduction questions:

  • How will my breasts look after surgery?

Though the unique characteristics of your breasts, including skin type and elasticity, will help to determine how your breasts look after surgery, Dr. Golshani will help to create a breast shape that is:

    • Firmer, smaller and more natural-looking
    • Symmetrical in size, shape and nipple position
    • Sitting at a higher, normal position on the chest

Your breasts may have an odd shape immediately after surgery as the final results of breast reduction will appear over the next few months as the breasts settle into a natural position. At about four months after surgery, your breasts may start to look natural but it will take approximately six to nine months for the new shape to stabilize. Unless you experience a change in your hormone levels (i.e. pregnancy and menopause), the size and shape of your breast should stay the same a year or more after surgery.

  • Will my breasts be perfectly symmetric after surgery?

Though surgery can correct asymmetries of the breasts, it may be impossible to make your breasts and nipples perfectly symmetrical. Most women do not have symmetrical shoulders or chest wall structures. In addition, related muscles, bones, and joints are usually different on both sides of the body. As a result, even with the best surgical techniques, some inequalities and asymmetries may be perceived between the breasts.

  • Is a breast reduction operation worth it?

Dr. Golshani takes pride in how happy and satisfied his breast reduction patients are after surgery, and it’s no surprise that he finds this surgical procedure to have the highest patient satisfaction rate. Our patients often say this is a "life-changing experience." Breast reduction surgery can significantly relieve or completely eliminate a variety of debilitating physical and psychological symptoms including back, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, skin irritations, shortness of breath, low self-esteem and self-image, low activity level, and social anxiety. Remember that your posture and muscles have been entrenched in the same position for a while so positive changes may not happen overnight, but with time many patients are finally able to:

    • Stand straighter because of improved posture and muscle strength
    • Breathe easier because of improved respiratory function
    • Buy clothes that actually fit because of a more proportioned body
    • Look forward to social events because of an increase in self-esteem
    • Perform and accomplish tasks faster and more efficiently because of an increase in energy level
    • Participate in all kinds of sports because of increased exercise tolerance

In recent years, there have been numerous scientific, medical studies that have proven the benefits of breast reduction surgery including the overall improvement of women’s health and longevity as well as their quality of life. Many of these studies indicate that improvements in symptoms last for years regardless of weight change. In other words, even if a woman gains weight, it is rare for them to have the same debilitating symptoms they had prior to surgery.

  • Are there any visible scars from breast reduction?

Breast reduction surgery will always have some type of scars. Dr. Golshani will show you exactly what incisions he feels are best for your surgery. Because of the technique he uses, scars are minimal and patients are very pleased with their breast reduction results. However, breast reduction using liposuction is a virtually scarless option.

  • How will breast reduction surgery affect my mammograms and other screenings?

It is recommended that every woman after the age of 40-45 get regular mammograms, and breast reduction patients should follow this advice as well. We do recommend that breast reduction patients wait approximately one year after surgery to get a mammogram since breasts can be tender, and mammogram compression can be painful if performed before the breasts are completely healed. Changes resulting from breast reduction surgery are visible on a mammogram, and most of these findings look different from pathologies such as malignancies. Sometimes, other studies such as an ultrasound or MRI are required, so please let your physician/radiologist know that you have had breast reduction surgery prior to getting a mammogram. Recent medical studies have shown that breast reduction not only does not cause breast cancer, but they even suggest that breast reduction may lower a woman’s risk of breast cancer by 50% to 70%. In addition, because mammograms are difficult to perform on extremely large breasts, a breast reduction surgery may make screening for breast cancer easier to perform.

  • Does Dr. Golshani perform free nipple grafting?

Yes he does, but only in rare cases. For example, free nipple grafting may be warranted in the breast reduction of a woman with very large breasts.

  • Will I lose sensation in my nipples or ability to breastfeed?

Most patients are able to maintain nipple sensation and the ability to breastfeed after breast reduction surgery. Dr. Golshani uses careful and precise surgical techniques to minimize any damage to the surrounding tissue.

  • I could not recommend him highly enough

After years of unhappiness and unwanted attention from the size of my chest, it was time to do something. The best plastic surgeon! I could not recommend him highly enough.

  • My results are beyond what I expected.

We all struggle with imperfections, but when it consumes your life, it needs to be addressed. I was unable to participate in activities with my children, like tag and skipping rope, or take care of myself by working out due to the huge weight I carried on my chest. Yes, the boobies were too large for normal function. They were creating issues with my back and neck that stopped me from being myself.

I asked my chiropractor if he could recommend a doctor that could alleviate my problem. He gave me Dr. Golshani's name, and he had nothing but praise to say about this doctor. In fact, he said if he had to send his wife to anyone for plastic surgery it would only be Dr. Golshani. After doing my own research, I made my appointment with Dr. Golshani. I felt comfortable with the doctor and his staff. However, for my own reasons, thinking I could live with the problem, I did not schedule the surgery. Almost a year later, I had enough. I called and scheduled. I only wished I would have done it sooner!

Dr. Golshani talked me through all the steps of why, how, and what would be the best options for me. He was always patient, kind, and most importantly, honest about what I could expect from this surgery… The personal care you get is unbelievable. It is one on one with the main goal of making you as comfortable as possible. After surgery, I did not feel sick or groggy. My sister, who works in the medical field, came with me and watched over me from pre to post opt, and she was very impressed with the staff and Dr. Golshani's bedside manner.

The office staff was very kind, helpful, and accommodating. I would give myself plenty of drive time to get down to Dr. Golshani's, and sometimes I would arrive earlier than expected, sometimes not; I was always taken in promptly regardless of when I got there. My results are beyond what I expected. I am over the moon with the way I feel and look. I would recommend and HAVE recommended Dr. Golshani; he is an excellent doctor.”

  • Truly an Amazing Surgeon

Dr. Golshani is truly an amazing surgeon. I had both a breast reduction and tummy tuck with him after having had 3 children. My body had not come back to the small size I was before having children... Then I worked with Dr. Golshani and I have been transformed into my probably self. I have lost over 30 lbs since my 2 surgeries. My breasts are beautiful and so is my tummy. I had a lipoma under my breast that needed to be removed which is why I went to see him in the first place. The weight of my breasts were pushing my bra into my skin, creating the lipoma... So I knew I had to not only remove the lipoma but reduce my size H breasts. I am now a D. I am now a size 4-6. I was a 12-14. Without Dr. Golshani I would still be suffering at 178 lbs with my breasts and stomach hanging off me. My skeletal structure has been restored to an upright position. While in between breast reduction and tummy tuck I changed my diet to no sugar, carbs or dairy. I took charge of the part of my healing that could and Dr. Golshani did the rest. He is a sensitive gifted surgeon and I would highly recommend him! One more thing... His staff is wonderful!

  • I felt at ease

My decision to have a breast reduction surgery began when I started nursing school. I felt that it was interfering not only physically but also psychologically with my work. I decided to see several doctors for a consultation to determine whether surgery was the best choice not only for myself but also for my health. When I first meet Dr. Golshani, I immediately felt that he was professional and he had such confidence in his work. That made me feel safe. After scheduling the surgery, I began to have panic attacks because it was my first surgery ever. I felt that maybe I was not ready at the time and that I had to think about it a little more.

After speaking again to Dr. Golshani and his staff, I felt at ease again and was convinced that this was what I wanted to do, and that I was going to be well taken care of. Finally my surgery day came. I was nervous and excited all at the same time. When I walked into the surgery center, I was welcomed by the nurse who was very nice to me. I also met the anesthesiologist, and I made him promise me that he would take good care of me. As a nurse, I also noted that the surgery center equipment was very clean and up to date. And that immediately made me feel safe. When my surgery was finished I didn't feel pain = only a little discomfort - which I knew was normal because of the anesthesia. When I went home and had a few questions, Dr. Golshani and his staff were all available to answer my questions.

Words can't express how I feel after my surgery both physically and psychologically. I was a DD before my surgery and now I am a full C, which is just perfect for my figure. He did an excellent job by matching my breast size to my body type. I would recommend Dr. Golshani to anyone out there with my same concerns or problems, because he is an experienced, kind, highly knowledgeable and very straight forward, not only as a physician, but also as a human being.

  • Extreme Satisfaction and Gratitude

It is with extreme satisfaction and gratitude that I write this testimonial about my experience with plastic surgery under the care of Dr. Daniel Golshani. On December 18, 2008, Dr. Golshani performed a breast reduction on me. From the initial consultation, I knew he was the doctor for me.

Dr. Golshani and his entire staff made me feel secure, confident and comfortable both before and after my surgery. They fully answered all my questions (and there were many) with the utmost professionalism, compassion and patience.

I couldn't be happier with the results of the surgery. Dr. Golshani is a skilled surgeon, a caring and considerate doctor and master of his craft. My entire center of gravity has changed; I can get up and down with greater ease. My back, neck and shoulder pains are gone. My clothes fit much better. I feel lighter -- and also gained a tremendous amount of self-confidence. My only regret is that I waited so long to have this surgery.

I can truly say my breast REDUCTION ENHANCED my life.

  • Incredibly Talented

Dr. Golshani is exceedingly qualified. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. There are more than a few doctors who will advertise that they are board certified. Every licensed medical doctor is board certified, but by what board? If your doctor is certified by the board of obstetrics and gynecology, you probably don't want him/her performing your surgery. It is crucial that you do your homework before you enter anyone's office. There is a very famous television plastic surgeon, who is actually a board certified pathologist. Don't take anyone's word for it. Check your doctor's credentials.

Dr. Golshani is very patient and takes the time to answer all of your questions, and by no means makes you feel rushed. Some Plastic surgeons will rush through a consultation. If a doctor doesn't have time to answer all of your questions, he is not the one for you.

Dr. Golshani is incredibly talented. He is able to listen to a patient describe his/her desired result and then bring it to fruition. What are the odds that you could describe something to someone and be certain that both of you envision the same thing in your "minds eye". That's nearly impossible, but Dr. Golshani is able to do it.

Last and most important, Dr. Golshani is trustworthy. Trust is a character trait that money cannot buy. He can be trusted to put the best interest of his patients above his own gain. When you're sprawled on the operating table so "out of it" on anesthesia that you don't know your own name, you can rest assured that you've put your life and well being in the hands of someone who has your best interest at heart; someone who will not abuse that privilege. He is a man of great integrity. I hold him in the highest esteem.

  • Now I can exercise freely

I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the breast reduction surgery. I have no more shoulder or back pain from the breast weight and now I can exercise freely. Thank you over and over again.

  • Medical Credentials Speak for Themselves

First and foremost, the Doctors medical credentials speak for themselves. That said, there is a calm, quiet strength that comes from the heart of Dr. Golshani. If you are familiar with the term "Renaissance Man," it was coined for this gentleman. There is no false bravado. He is a blend of excellent surgical skills, with the artistic talent of a sculptor mixed with professionalism, integrity and the right amount of sensitivity to make the process smooth and seamless.

The information given before your scheduled procedure is strict and intensive for the purpose that he wants you to have the easiest recovery and best results possible. Everything he and his staff ask you to do is for your benefit and well-being. Don't try to take matters into your own hands and second guess what they tell you about the pre-op preparation and what not to take whether it is aspirin or certain vitamin supplements. Trust me on this one. You can help reduce some of the bruising if you follow directions.

Next, his staff is exemplary. We all have horror stories about dreading going to a doctor who has an unintelligent or uncaring staff surrounding them. You will be treated with respect, patience, and sincerity from the minute you phone the office. As far as I am concerned, you can judge the caliber of the doctor by the type of people they hire to represent them.

For the moment you arrive on the day of your surgery, you are treated like royalty. Every effort is made strictly for your comfort and safety. I have never gone under anesthesia so peacefully, only to awaken the same way with warm blankets on my body instead of being chilled and shivering as is the norm. Why doesn't every recovery room nurse offer this small act of human kindness when we are feeling most vulnerable????

It is one thing to read pamphlets and press releases, but a whole other story to hear about the experience first-hand. In a city like Beverly Hills, where great plastic surgeons can be found on every street corner, this is not just a doctor. This is THE DOCTOR.

Oh, by the way, I am deliriously happy with my results.
