The look of your face is so important to your overall appearance, the way you present yourself, and your self-confidence. As we get older, there are inevitable signs of aging we will all deal with. Even if you take extremely good care of your skin, factors like sun exposure, genetics, gravity, stress, and environmental condition will cause the face to age. Common signs of aging in the face include fine and deep wrinkles, sagging of the facial tissue, loss of elasticity in the skin, spots from sun damage, and more. It’s especially frustrating to look at your face and find that you look older than you feel. When you lose the youthful contours of the brow, eyelid, jawline, and neck, you may see that your face looks sad or tired, even when you feel great.

Benefits of a Facelift Operation
Dr. Golshani is a double board certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon who offers facelift procedures that can improve visible signs of aging. A customized facelift operation can:
- Lift the mid-face area to bring a toned look to the skin and enhancements of the appearance of your bone structure
- Reduce the deep creases below your lower eyelids that often make us look tired
- Treat nasolabial folds, which are deep creases that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Replenish fat that is drooping or has disappeared
- Enhance the skin tone and tighten the lower face area that produces jowls
- Remove excess fat and hanging skin under the chin, which can give the appearance of a double chin - even in people of a normal weight.
Combining a Face Lift with Other Procedures
A facelift is a good stand-alone procedure, but also can be a great surgery to have in conjunction with other procedures. Many of our Beverly Hills patients often have facelifts performed with a neck lift, a brow lift, or eyelid surgery. Dr. Golshani is a true expert at customizing a series of procedures that will help you look younger, fresher, and natural. While surgical facial improvements last for years and years, we also have non-surgical improvements that last for months; in some cases, the combination of surgical and non-surgical treatments produce the most ideal results.

Common Types Of Questions Asked About Facelift
What is the best age for facelift surgery?
There is no right or wrong age for facelift surgery. Instead, Dr. Goshani will help you understand what results you can expect, and answer questions about facelifts so you can decide if you are ready - mentally, physically, and financially. He has performed many facelift on patients in their 40s, which tend to be easier surgeries with long-lasting results. The younger you are, the more elastic your tissue is in general. However, that does not mean that patients in their 70s and 80s cannot have excellent results as well. These older patients can see dramatic, but still natural, results because they tend to have more pronounced sagging, wrinkles, and loss of contour. A 1-on-1 consultation in our Los Angeles office is the best way to find out if you are a good face lift candidate.
What are my alternatives to face lift surgery?
If you want the significant results of a surgical facelift, there are no equal alternatives. Facelift surgery is by far the best and most sure way to see substantial improvements in the signs of aging. However, if you’re hoping for more subtle changes including improvement of pigment, enhancement of facial contours, and diminished wrinkles, then we offer a range of non surgical rejuvenation treatments that may be great options for you. You can learn more about alternative to a facelift here.
How long is a facelift recovery?
After a facelift, you should expect to have some discomfort, swelling, and bruising for about 10 - 14 days. Many of our facelift patients find that they can return to low-key activities like a desk job and running errands after about 2 weeks. By about 1 month after a facelift, you should be at least 80% through your recovery. However, we’ll ask you to wait at least 6 weeks before resuming any strenuous work or exercise.
When will I see my final results?
While it’s easy to feel impatient waiting to see the final results of your facelift, it’s important to realize that it can take several months for the swelling to dissipate, and up to 6 months for incision lines to mature. Life-long sun protection will help maintain your rejuvenated appearance by minimizing photo-aging or sun damage. In addition, a healthy lifestyle will help extend the results of your rejuvenated and more youthful appearance. Most patients find that the benefits of their initial facelift results are long lasting, even as they continue to age.
Deciding to have a facelift is a complex and personal decision. If you have questions, you can set up a consultation with Dr. Golshani. He will walk you through each aspect of a facelift so that you can truly understand the benefits, risks, and realistic expectations for your own results. You can contact us at (310) 274-3481 or schedule an appointment online here to get started.
Is there an appropriate age to receive face lift surgery?
There is no right age for face lift surgery. Timing depends on when the patient believes they are mentally & aesthetically ready. However, the surgery is simpler and results last much longer for younger patients in their early 40s because of better elasticity in the tissue. We have seen patients in their 70s & 80s receive face lift surgery. A 1-on-1 consultation is the best way to find out if you are a good candidate.
Do I have to have surgery, are there alternatives?
A facelift can only be performed surgically; non-surgical rejuvenation treatments cannot achieve the same results but may help delay the time at which a facelift becomes appropriate and complement the results of surgery.
