Botox® | Dysport® in Beverly Hills

Over time, facial expressions like squinting, frowning, or smiling can cause the skin to crease, hardening into expression lines and wrinkles that remain visible even when your face is at rest. Botox and Dysport are injectable neuromodulator treatments that soften and smooth these expression lines, making you look younger and more relaxed. With minimal downtime and discomfort, neuromodulator treatments provide temporary results that last for months.

You’ve probably heard of Botox—an FDA-approved treatment to smooth facial lines and wrinkles that’s been around for over 20 years. Every year, millions of people across the US get Botox and Dysport to soften facial creases.. Each treatment has its advantages for certain signs of facial aging, and both are quickly growing in popularity.

Botox and Dysport can also help treat migraines, excessive sweating, and certain muscle spasms.

Under the supervision of Daniel Golshani, M.D., F.A.C.S., DGMD Medi-Spa offers Botox and Dysport injections for men and women who want to look and feel their best. What Is Botox?

Botox is a medical formulation of botulinum toxin type A, which blocks nerve signals that cause facial muscles to contract. Precisely placed Botox injections reduce nerve signal intensity, allowing facial muscles to relax and the skin above them to smooth and regain resilience, helping you look younger and more relaxed.

Botox is approved by the FDA for the cosmetic treatment of horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet, and glabellar lines (the vertical creases that form between the eyebrows). The muscle-calming effects of Botox can also be used to stop muscle spasms. As an added benefit, Botox injections can reduce the frequency and severity of migraine headaches. They can also be used to treat excessive sweating in the hands, feet, underarms, or elsewhere on the body.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is another formulation of botulinum toxin type A and acts in the same way as Botoxto relax the targeted facial muscles, allowing the skin to smooth and recover. Dysporthas some advantages over Botox. It acts more quickly than Botox, with results that appear in three to five days, compared with a week for Botox. A single injection with Dysport also treats a larger area, which allows for treatment with fewer injections. A potential disadvantage is that Dysport results may not last as long as Botox results.

Dysport is FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe glabellar lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows). It is commonly used to treat forehead lines and crow’s feet, as well. Like Botox, Dysport can also stop muscle spasms, reduce migraine headaches, and control excessive sweating.

The Benefits of Botox and Dysport in Beverly Hills

Botox and Dysport injections can help you look younger, refreshed, and more relaxed by softening or erasing certain facial lines and wrinkles, including:

  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines or glabellar lines (vertical lines that form between the eyebrows)
  • Crow’s feet
  • Smile or laugh lines on the sides of the mouth
  • Vertical lines above the upper lip

They can also be used to enhance your appearance by:

  • Lifting the corners of your mouth to give your face a happier look when at rest
  • Making thick jaw muscles less prominent
  • Reducing neck bands

In addition to their cosmetic benefits, Botox and Dysport  can be used to treat:

  • Muscle spasms, including problems with the eyes and eyelids, such as excessive squinting or blinking
  • Excessive sweating
  • Migraine headaches

Injectable treatments offer a fast, easy, and convenient way to temporarily reverse early signs of facial aging. There’s no downtime after treatment, and the results typically last for three to four months, and sometimes up to six months. When the effects begin to fade, you can have refresher treatments to maintain them.

What to Expect During a Botox Treatment

Botox and Dysport treatments are performed in our Beverly Hills Medi-Spa. We use a very fine needle to inject precise amounts of the medication into the targeted facial muscles. Some patients describe the sensation as similar to a pinprick or a pinch. If you’re concerned about discomfort or are having injections in a particularly sensitive area, such as the palms of your hands, we will numb the area before treatment with a topical anesthetic or ice. The treatment usually takes 15 to 30 minutes.

What to Expect After Your Botox and Dysport Treatments

There’s no downtime after treatment with any of these injectables. When the injections are finished, you’re free to go home, back to work, or resume most normal activities. Immediately after treatment, you may have small areas of redness or swelling at the sites of the injections. These usually disappear within hours or by the next day. We’ll ask you not to do any strenuous activity the day of your treatment, and not to lie down or rub the treated areas for a few hours. Other than these small steps, there is no need to change your routine after Botox and Dysport treatments.

You’ll see the first signs of improvement within 24 to 48 hours as forehead lines, worry lines, and crow’s feet start to soften and smooth. The results will continue improving over the next few days—quickly after treatment with Dysport, and more gradually with Botox. Final results from Dysport treatments are usually visible three to five days after treatment. Botox results are visible after a week or two.

Frequently Asked Questions About Botox and Dysport Injections

Like most non-surgical procedures, Botox or Dysport results are temporary. For most patients, the results last for three to four months. For some patients the results can last up to six months. Our experts will help you schedule refresher treatments to maintain your results.

Yes. Treatment with any of these three neuromodulators can be combined with other medi-spa treatments. Dermal fillers can smooth lines and wrinkles that aren’t caused by facial expressions. A chemical peel can improve skin texture and brightness. Microdermabrasion can help to restore skin resilience. When you come into our Beverly Hills office, we will help you determine the non-surgical solutions to help you maintain your youthful looks and achieve your goals.

Botox injections are offered by a wide range of practitioners, including many with far less medical and cosmetic expertise than our medi-spa specialists. While the injections seem simple and are quick and convenient for patients, they require a deep understanding of facial anatomy and aesthetics to perform safely and to create attractive and natural-looking results. The face has 43 muscles and precise placements and dosages are required when working with neuromodulators. Misplaced injections can cause facial drooping, and inappropriate doses can cause your face to look frozen and expressionless. Your face and appearance are too important to be trusted to anyone other than the most skilled and caring medical experts.
